Disney’s Animal Kingdom Breaks Ground on Tropical Americas Expansion
Embarking on a New Adventure
On January 17, 2025, Disney’s Animal Kingdom commenced construction on the highly anticipated Tropical Americas land, marking a significant milestone in the park’s evolution. This new 11-acre area is set to replace the former DinoLand U.S.A., introducing guests to the vibrant cultures and rich biodiversity of regions just north and south of the equator in the Western Hemisphere.
Immersive Attractions Await
Indiana Jones Adventure
Guests can look forward to an all-new Indiana Jones attraction, where the iconic archaeologist explores a recently discovered ancient Maya temple. This experience promises to be unique, offering a completely new storyline distinct from other Indiana Jones rides worldwide.
Encanto: The Magical Casita
For the first time, Disney will introduce an “Encanto”-themed ride, allowing visitors to step into the magical world of the Madrigal family. This attraction will immerse guests in the wonders of the enchanted Casita, celebrating the beloved characters and music from the film.
A Vibrant Community Hub
Pueblo Esperanza
The heart of Tropical Americas will be Pueblo Esperanza, a lively village designed to feel lived-in, with a long, rich history. The area will feature classic Spanish-style architecture, including a large hacienda that will serve as one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort. At the center of the village, a grand fountain will provide a gathering place for storytelling and community events, embodying the spirit of the region.
Looking Ahead
Construction of Tropical Americas is set to proceed in phases, with the new land expected to open to guests in 2027. During this period, certain areas of the park will undergo transformations to bring this immersive experience to life. Disney’s commitment to storytelling and cultural authenticity ensures that Tropical Americas will be a must-visit destination for guests seeking adventure and enchantment.
